Process variations-aware digital design

Manufacturing process variations have an increasingly important effect on the circuit performance in current and future technologies. We address this problem by studying how to design digital circuits using a high level of redundancy at the circuit and architecture level, and using extremely regular layout styles.

Energy harvesting

There is an increasing demand for portable electronics which depend on batteries, and need to be recharged periodically. On the other hand, the power necessary to operate electronic devices goes down, and this trend opens a possibility to increase the autonomy of these devices by using the energy generated by the user in its normal activity. In general, the idea is to extract energy from the environment. In particular, we are considering ways to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy.
